Medium: digital print on matte paper
Description:
Inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s theories on Existentialism which examines one’s authenticity or inauthenticity through their choices, Life is an Illogical Fantasy ponders on the meaning of being human, and the relationship between people and their environment. Taking cues from the works of surrealist artist Man Ray and contemporary photographer Feng Lee, a celestial and phantom-like figure dominates the entire series obfuscating the boundaries between the real and the unreal, the self and the vast environment, the authenticity and the inauthenticity. Rather than dictating an answer, Life is an Illogical Fantasy challenges viewers to think about their own interpretation and judgement on the aforementioned dichotomies.
