As the demand for expansion grows stronger every year, Singapore has become one of the most popular consumers of Mekong Delta’s sand. Rather than trying to solve any issues, this work questions. Have Singaporean ever wondered what their buildings have been built upon – the “land” that was once just water? Should they refrain from moving into these buildings in order to express their empathy, to support a “just” cause? It was seemingly a fair and square transaction until the issue of excessive sand mining being raised by international news outlets and activists. Can Singapore be excused from activating a whole new exploitative sand mining economy in Vietnam and Cambodia in which they would try many ways to fill up such enormous and constant demands?
